10 Interesting Facts about Neutron Star

The Neutron Stars are extremely dense and highly compressed body which are formed as a product of supernova event of the massive stars.

Here are few amazing facts about it:

1) Only 3% stars of the Milky Way Galaxy would turn into Neutron Star and Blackhole.

2) One teaspoon of Neutron Star would weigh billion tons.

3) It is very hard to find them as their size is very small. Their radius is just about 10-20 km.

4) It's mass is about twice the mass of the Sun.

5) When two Neutron Stars collide, it forms the Blackhole.

6) It rotates at furiously high speed about 600 times per second.

7) They are extremely hot with a temperature of around 60,000 K.

8) They have such a harsh gravitational field that it can bend light around them.

9) The escape velocity at the surface of the Neutron Star is about one third the speed of light.

10) Due to such a high density and extreme gravity, the time dilation is notable. 10 years on the Earth would be equal to 8 years on the Neutron Star.
